Shortness of Breath
The sensation of air hunger brought on by shortness of breath is distressing and tends to "kick up" anxiety and other unpleasant emotions. Shortness of breath also can limit a person's ability to do things that they care about if those "things" involve walking far (especially uphill), stair climbing, or even walking while talking.
